Empowering Future Leaders

Globally, youth activism is on the rise with children and youth marching, protesting, and advocating for climate justice, racial and gender equality, LGBTQ rights, and economic change. Last year, we saw young people of different races and ethnicities marching to support the Black Lives Matter movement across the world, while climate activist Greta Thunberg and Nobel Prize winner and human rights activist, Malala Yousafzai are routinely in the headlines.

It is not a coincidence that we are seeing our young people step up at a time when we are confronting the worst health care crisis in a generation that has laid bare gaping social inequities.   History shows us that young people are always at the front in creating change.

So, as adults, what are we going to do?  It is our responsibility to protect and empower them.  They will be at the forefront of rebuilding a society that is more just and resilient.  In this episode, we heard from leading organizations that are working on a local, national, and global level to support our youth in becoming future leaders.

The Quest for Racial Justice: Making This a Movement, Not a Moment

Racism and the systemic inequities it breeds took center stage last year, as the world watched the murder of George Floyd during the worst healthcare crisis of our generation. We have the opportunity to address last year’s tragic events by being more intentional in our actions and the causes we support. Please join us in having a dialogue with organizations on the front line of sustaining what must become a movement, so that last year’s events aren’t simply viewed as just another moment in time.
